The Schneider Electric GZ1E20 is a Easy TeSys GZ1E thermal-magnetic motor circuit breaker with a setting range of 13–18 A. It protects three-phase motors against overload, short circuit and phase failure, and can also be used to start and stop the motor manually – replacing a breaker plus overload relay in one compact unit.

Key features

  • Adjustable thermal setting 13–18 A to match the motor nameplate current
  • Phase-failure sensitivity for three-phase motors
  • Clear ON/OFF/TRIP indication and lockable handle for safe maintenance
  • Direct mounting with TeSys contactors to build compact starters
  • Accepts auxiliary contacts, fault signalling contacts and undervoltage releases
  • DIN-rail or panel mounting

Selection guide

Select the range so that the motor full-load current (from the nameplate) falls inside the setting range, then set the dial exactly to the nameplate current. For example, a 7.5 kW 400 V motor draws about 15 A, so a 13–18 A range is appropriate.

Frequently asked questions

What motor size suits the GZ1E20?

With a 13–18 A setting range it suits three-phase motors whose full-load current lies within that range – roughly up to 7.5 kW at 400 V.

Do I need an overload relay with this breaker?

No for thermal-magnetic GV2ME/GV2P/GV3P/GZ1E types, which include overload protection. Yes for magnetic-only GV2L types, which must be combined with a thermal overload relay.
