The Himel HDB3VR is a 2P, 25–63 A, 30 mA type AC residual current circuit breaker. It constantly compares the outgoing and returning current and disconnects the supply as soon as an earth-leakage current is detected, providing protection of people against electric shock.

Key features

  • 30 mA sensitivity for protection of people against electric shock
  • 2P version for single-phase supplies
  • Test button for periodic checking of correct operation
  • Trip and contact-position indication
  • DIN-rail mounting next to MCBs in the same board
  • Use with an upstream MCB/MCCB for overload and short-circuit protection

Typical applications

  • Apartment and villa main distribution boards
  • Bathrooms, kitchens, outdoor sockets and wet areas
  • Offices, schools, clinics and commercial buildings
  • Water heater, pump and swimming-pool circuits
  • Compliance with Egyptian electrical code requirements for earth-leakage protection

Selection and installation tips

Use 30 mA for protection of people, 100–300 mA for fire and installation protection at the main incomer, and choose a rated current equal to or higher than the upstream breaker. Use a 2-pole RCCB for single-phase supplies and a 4-pole RCCB for three-phase supplies with neutral.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Himel HDB3VR protect against short circuits?

No. An RCCB detects earth leakage only and must be protected by an MCB or MCCB of equal or lower rating.

Why does an RCCB trip frequently?

Usually because of a real insulation fault, moisture in outlets or appliances with high leakage such as old water heaters. Test each circuit separately to locate the fault.

What is the difference between an RCCB and an RCBO?

An RCCB gives earth-leakage protection only, while an RCBO combines earth-leakage and overcurrent (MCB) protection in one device.
